Carlos Slim Helu, the Chairman /CEO of Samsung Mexico, Telmex and America Movil, is currently the richest man in the world 2013 Forbes Magazine edition says. According to Forbes, the South American billionaire has a net profit of $73 billion, surpassing Bill Gates’ $72.7 billion.
This Mexican entrepreneur was born on January 28, 1940. He started his career as a stock trader in Mexico and eventually put up his own firm and started investing in businesses. From there his knack for business began to show and he gradually rose up in the financial world.
He finally got his billion dollar fortune from the enormous market for telecommunications in Mexico, his well-placed investments on all sorts of businesses such as restaurants, tobacco, construction and retail stores and his incredible ability to turn struggling companies into financial successes.
Currently, the Latin American magnate continues to gain a sizable income from his 3 major companies. Telmex claims to cover 90% of all land line phones in Mexico, America Movil dominates 70% of whole mobile phone market in Mexico and is also the largest cellphone company in the whole of Latin America.
He also provides large donations to charitable organizations worldwide. He provided $4 billion to fund various health and education projects and helped in revitalizing poverty stricken areas in Mexico City.
